Field Experience

I enjoy fieldwork, especially the need to think on your feet and work with what you've got close to hand. I've worked on substantial projects in the following environments:

• Central and Southern Iceland
• Bellingshausen Sea, Antarctica
• Swiss Alps
• Nepalese mountain communities

I've also been involved in a number of fieldclasses, most frequently in the Austrian Alps where I've taught glaciology and basic alpine skills.

Training

• Wilderness Medical Training's Advanced Medicine course (needs renewal)
• PADI Open Water Diver
• Clean UK Driving Licence with Minibus; Motorbike Licence; experienced 4x4 cold desert and snow driver
• Cave and mine rescue, with experience in adit stabilisation

Interests

• Sailing; Hiking; Drawing and painting; Caving; Climbing
• Wide non-fiction reading (I've got enough books to have bookshelves at 90 degrees to my walls, which I think is probably the symptom of an addict).
